Mark Lyons, a driver for Bradford-based Qualceram Shires, has been given a runners up award after he impressed judges with a show of top level driving skills.
Mr Lyons showed off his skills at an event held by the logistics company Bibby Distribution.
Drivers from 26 depots were put through their paces in a series of manoeuvres.
Each is designed to test the driver's ability behind the wheel and their knowledge of driving regulations and vehicle maintenance.
Mr Lyons said "Being asked to represent the company in the driver of the year competition was an honour. It portrays the company's commitment to investing in and the development of their employees."
Tasks included judging vehicle width, manoeuvring an eight-wheel tipper truck in and out of parking bays, confined space reversing, skid control and a general road safety test.
