Baildon's performance of the season in beating Pudsey Congs last week has just been surpassed.

Just one week on and Yeadon, bottom of the league and with seven fewer wins than the leaders, grabbed their own shock result, and in some style too.

Congs crashed to their second defeat of the season, and their second in a row, losing by an incredible 70 runs.

On the opening day of the season, Congs needed just 91 against Yeadon to grab a nine-wicket victory and assume their place at the top of the table.

But on Saturday that same total was woefully short of the required score, once again offering renewed hope to the chasing pack and handing Yeadon a six-point relegation lifeline.

Naveed Rana-ul-Hassan did his usual work, grabbing four wickets for 30, as the home side posted 161 for nine in their 50 overs.

Ian Philliskirk top-scored with 49, but the loss of the last six wickets for just 15 runs gave Congs a more than manageable target.

However, John Roper was one Yeadon player determined to make a game of it.

In the first ball of the 33rd over Roper took his seventh wicket and gave the home side maximum points.

Rana-ul-Hassan top-scored with 28, but four players made ducks. It was as comprehensive a win as you could wish for.

Congs now sit just three points clear at the top with everything now to play for over the ten remaining matches.

Yeadon climb to the top of the relegation places, but still have 11 points to make up to stay in this division.

However, with performances like that, anything is possible.

St Lawrence, once again, were on hand to pick up maximum points as their neighbours slipped up, taking Lightcliffe apart.

The relegation-threatened side were dismissed for 159 in 43 overs and half-centuries from Matthew Thompson (52), Stewart Smith (66 not out) and an unbeaten 38 from Tariq Aziz helped St Lawrence to a nine-wicket win.

East Bierley returned to winning ways in the league with victory over Cleckheaton. But there was no repeat of the cup humiliation as the relegation strugglers managed 168 for eight at the compact ground.

Opener Jonathan Proud hit 57 as the total was reached with five wickets in the hutch, and Bierley moved back up to fourth.

Undercliffe remain in third after taking all the points from Farsley. The Red Laners managed 183 for nine, but an unbeaten John Sadler century helped Undercliffe to a comfortable six-wicket victory.

Priestley Cup semi-finalists Hanging Heaton once again failed in the league, going down against Spen Victoria. Just two bowlers, Kez Ahmed and Rao Anjum each taking four wickets, were employed as the home side were dismissed for 133 with four balls of the 50 overs remaining. A captain's innings from Steve Bethel (47 not out) helped Spen to a four-wicket win with 11 overs left.

From last week's heady heights of victory over the Congs, Baildon fell to an 82-run defeat to Woodlands.

Nick Rushworth's 68 helped the home side to 177 all out, held back mostly by five wickets from Carl Smith.

But six vital wickets from Richard Spittle-house reduced Baildon to a paltry 95 all-out in 34 overs.
