An investigation into the growing number of "mixed " wards in hospitals is demanded by Mr Leslie Welbourne, secretary of the Wharfedale Branch of the Confederation of Health Service employees. Mr Wellbourne, who is a charge nurse at Scalebor Park Hospital, Burley-in-Wharfedale, says he regards this as a national problem rather than a local one.
