David Waite has sensationally turned his back on the world club champions, naming just one Bradford Bulls player in the starting line-up for Friday's Test against Australia.

Only Jamie Peacock will take to the field at Aussie Stadium for the crunch Test after the Great Britain coach consigned Stuart Fielden to the bench and left Lee Gilmour on the sidelines.

Despite winning the World Club Championship and the Grand Final, the Bulls have been snubbed by the national coach, with Wigan, Leeds and St Helens providing the other 12 places in the side.

The omission of Lee Gilmour in particular has angered Bulls chairman Chris Caisley.

"It is a little strange that so few of our players have made it into the team," said Caisley.

"And we could have done without losing Lee. It is a long way to go not to get a game, and we could really do with him here.

"We have a tough game against Wakefield on Friday and we will be missing a few through injury already, so we could really do with having him here."

Although four Bulls were named in the shadow squad, Caisley believes more of his players should be representing their country in the match.

"I am sure there are a lot more of our players who are good enough to be in that team and could do as good a job as those players in it," said Caisley, hoping for a big crowd on Friday's home tie despite the absentees.

"People like Paul Deacon, Jimmy Lowes, Leon Pryce and Mike Forshaw can count themselves unlucky not to have been included."

Speaking to the Telegraph & Argus from Australia, Great Britain team manager Phil Clarke said preparations for the one-off Test had been going well.

"It is great weather out here and the lads are training well," he said.

"We are going into the game in high spirits and the lads are really soaking up the atmosphere.

"The media intensity out here is enormous, it is like the build-up to a world title fight, but the players are feeding off that."
