Police believe that someone, somewhere knows the identity of the "Jack the Ripper" attacker who has killed five times and who, they are convinced, left a sixth woman for dead after breaking her skull in Bradford. Mrs Maureen Long, 42, of Donald Street, Farsley, who was left by her attacker on waste ground next to Birkshall Lane, Bowling Back Lane, Bradford, was in the Mecca's Bali Hai ballroom in Manningham Lane, Bradford and police believe dancers at the ballroom may be able to help.

Bradford Smallpox Hospital has been offered to the Bradford Corporation and other authorities without success, it was revealed in minutes issued at the meeting of Leeds Regional Hospital Board at Harrogate today. Because of this the Minister of Health considers the caretaker living at the premises should be required to leave in order that there would then be vacant possession.
