A businessman has set up a website urging people to call for the cleaning up of an eyesore.
Donal O'Driscoll of Liversedge was so fed up of seeing the old Savoy Cinema site in Cleckheaton looking overgrown and ugly, that he contacted the landowners, Tesco, asking them to landscape it.
Originally the store said it would landscape the site if it was given planning permission to build a new store in St Peg Lane. But the scheme was refused following a public inquiry, and, since then, the site has become even more overgrown and untidy, Mr O'Driscoll claims. He contacted Tesco and said the company had acknowledged his concerns, but would not commit to an improvement scheme.
So the computer systems specialist decided to set up a website featuring photographs of the Savoy site and asking people to lobby Tesco.
Tesco's Shaun Edgeley said: "Tesco is currently reviewing its long-term future in Cleckheaton. When a decision is made, we will look at the situation with the Savoy site. We have reassured Mr O'Driscoll that we are aware of the issues surrounding it. Once we have sorted out plans for the future, we will get on to it."
