Phil Sharpe has left his post as assistant manager at Guiseley after being enticed to become the new manager at UniBond Premier Division outfit Frickley Athletic.
After presiding over the first pre-season get together of his new club on Tuesday evening he gave his reasons for walking away from Nethermoor.
"I have always had something to say about the game once the players had left the pitch so you could say I have had a great interest in becoming a manager," said Sharpe, who admitted it was a tough decision to turn his back on Guiseley.
"I never applied for the job at Frickley, they rang me up and asked me if I was interested. They had a short list of three for the vacant job but were not sure of the three and someone recommended me.
"My name had been put forward by a third party and after talking to them on the phone I wanted to go along to see what the club were about. I think it is a big challenge and sometimes you have to go with your gut feeling."
Sharpe has approached someone to become his
assistant but is remaining tight-lipped about his preferred choice because he is currently playing for a side in the area.
