Cougars coach Gary Moorby is furious over the loss of his star player.
Oli Marns, on loan at Keighley, will be donning a Leigh shirt on Sunday after the Centurions offered more cash to Halifax for the pacy winger.
"Money talks in this game," said Moorby. "Leigh are desperate for Super League status and have gone in with an offer we could never match.
"It is difficult to compete with clubs who are just splashing the cash. Losing a player of Oli's quality is a real kick in the teeth." Marns attracted Leigh's attention by scoring a 100-yard wonder-try against them for the Cougars two weeks ago.
