A Shipley school has introduced a number of improvement measures after Government inspectors criticised the teaching of juniors.
During their four-day inspection of Windhill CE Primary School, Ofsted inspectors found standards in English, maths and science were well below average by the time the pupils reached year six. They judged the school had serious weaknesses.
Quality of teaching was said to be very good in nursery and reception classes and satisfactory in the infants.
However, inspectors found a high level of unsatisfactory teaching of junior pupils, and inconsistencies in teaching from class to class.
Headteacher Caroline Illingworth said: "We have worked on an Action Plan and have already introduced a number of measures to bring changes for the better."
Since the inspection, the school had been awarded a School Achievement Award for improved results.
