People with a few hours to spare are being urged to help with the running of the Telegraph & Argus Bradford Can... Cancer Research Appeal.
Hundreds of events are being held throughout the region to raise money towards the £1 million target, but these all need to be organised and recorded.
This is done by the Bradford Can... Appeal Office, which is based at Claremont in the city.
Appeal manager Tish Burton, as well as appeal secretaries Christine Sunter and Caroline McLaughlin, keep track of events, help people to organise them and give advice to people who want to do something.
Mrs Burton goes into the community to raise awareness and organises the larger events.
Volunteers are now needed to help out at the office, giving people with a bit of regular spare time the chance to do something practical to help cancer research in Bradford.
The £1million raised by the Bradford Can... Appeal will go towards work at Bradford University's Cancer Research Unit, where scientists are working to identify drugs which can treat cancerous cells.
The drugs will then be tested in clinical trials at Bradford Royal Infirmary. Once the £1 million target is hit, it will unlock another £5 million of funding from Cancer Research UK.
Mrs Burton said they needed help with general administrative support. Tasks will include filling envelopes, photocopying and tidying up.
"What we would actually like is a volunteer who can commit to a few hours on the same day each week," she said. Age or sex were not important, but people had to be enjoy working as part of a team in a busy office.
"We want somebody who wishes to support the appeal in a practical way and who is happy being given jobs to do."
Anyone interested should write a letter of application to Mrs Burton at the Bradford Can... Appeal Office, 21 Claremont, Bradford BD7 1BG.
