Take the bus for a walk is the message from Keighley & District Travel.
The bus company has teamed up with Lorna Palmer, Walk Co-ordinator with Walking for All in Keighley, to encourage local folk to lace up their boots, hop on a bus and try out local picturesque rambling routes.
They have compiled a special leaflet that outlines six walks in the Keighley area and the buses that drop off and pick up along each of the routes.
The aim is to get people to leave their cars at home, take part in a healthy activity and enjoy some of the stunning local scenery.
Keighley & District spokesman Graham Mitchell says: "The six linear walks are all designed to start on Keighley's comprehensive local bus network, thus avoiding the need to get back to the starting point to pick up the car."
Lorna Palmer (pictured) says: "Time and time again I hear people say they can't go on a walk because they've got no transport, and that's exactly what the leaflet is there for.
"We hope it will plant the idea of doing one of these walks in people's minds and that they will use the very good local bus service to see some of the gorgeous countryside around Keighley.
"Inactivity is one of the biggest causes of health problems, and walking is an ideal form of exercise that can reduce the chance of conditions such as coronary heart disease."
Walks featured are Riddlesden to Ilkley or East Morton, Thwaites Brow to Bingley or Harden, Harden to Cullingworth, Denholme Gate to Oxenhope, Oxenhope to Oakworth and Oakworth to Fell Lane.
They have been compiled with the help of Bradford council's countryside officer David Parsons and rights of way officer Jayne Benson.
Five thousand leaflets have been distributed locally and can be picked up from Keighley Bus Station Travel Office, Keighley Information Centre, Keighley Library, the Keighley News reception and Haworth Tourist Information Centre.
It is also hoped to distribute them to GP surgeries and local attractions. Lorna adds that she is looking to recruit more volunteers to help out on health walks she is organising.
