A three-strong team from the Brewer's Fayre pub is taking a company advertising-slogan to heart.

The trio from The Dalesway, at Crossflatts, is "taking a break from the old routine"--- and walking and running the length of the Leeds-Liverpool Canal towpath!

Stephen Phillips, Dalmain Butler and Christopher Rhodes will tackle their sponsored stint later this month to raise money for the children's mobility charity Going for Kids, founded by Sebastian Coe.

The threesome will set off from Liverpool on July 23, and they aim to arrive at Leeds within four days. The plan is to stay overnight at Brewer's Fayre accommodation en route. They hope their marathon effort will raise at least £2,000.

Stephen, the kitchen manager, said: "It is going to be a real challenge. Although officially the distance is 127 miles, with slight deviations from the route along the way as we collect money, it will actually be somewhere between 130 and140 miles. We will need to run a good part of the way. It will be tough, but we are determined to do it."

Stephen has run half marathons and is a former Territorial Army physical training instructor, and Dalmain has completed gruelling three-day hikes in South Africa.
