Keighley A have virtually clinched the Skipton League after pulling off two victories over the Silsden Playing Fields B team.

Although the Keighley side is clear at the top there is still plenty of time to go with a group of clubs keen to take advantage of any slip-up in form. Silsden PF A, Cononley A and Silsden A are trying to make up ground.

At the bottom little separates Foulridge, Lund A, Silsden B and Silsden PF B who are all in the relegation zone.

Addingham a look good for the Division Two title, but who else will gain promotion lies with several teams including Haworth, Oakworth, Cononley B and Keighley B with pressure starting to mount. It appears that Lund B and Cross Hills B are already doomed to relegation.

Silsden PF C are beginning to stretch clear in Division three while Addingham C are firmly at the bottom despite recording a rare victory last week.

Cross Roads are only five points being leaders Elland Cricket Club in Division One of the Halifax League, but Elland have a game in hand.

Oxenhope A are third in Division Two with work to do, but poor Oakworth remain rock bottom despite recording their first win last week.

Oxenhope B remain third in Division Three some way off the pace while Cross Roads B lead Division five and looks set for a second promotion in two years. Denholme are tucked away in fourth place.

Cross Roads B have also qualified in the Yorkshire Parks Wood Cup and play in the last eight in Wharfedale on August 11. The A team aim to qualify for the Brotherton Cup finals in the final game tonight (Friday) and will play Bradford on August 4 if successful.

The Skipton Inter-District team pulled off a fine win in the way leg against West Riding at Brighouse last week as David Cadwallader and Brian 'The Hitman' Harrison excelled against much vaunted opponents.

Sadly the home led at Highfield led to an overall 12-9 defeat as only Mick Walsh and Graham Lomax, refreshed by a holiday to Lesbos, had any idea to reach 21. Their next match is against Halifax on July 26.

Valley Trebles title holders Chris & Diane Slater with Ed Hall reached the final in their quest to retain the trophy, but then suffered a surprise defeat at the hands of Whinfield trio Graham and Richard Perry with 'Dr' George Findlay who secured victory after 15 ends.

The weekend kicked off last night with prelims in the Skipton Merit at Silsden PF, Whins Wood, Rolls Royce and Colne Legion. The finals are on August 4.

The Valley and Supplementary Cup semi-finals are also on tonight with the finals on August 16-17.

The John Rycroft Prelims continue on Sunday at 11am and 2.30 with the finals on August 11.

Cross Roads meet Littlemoor in the last 16 of the Yorkshire Cup tomorrow (Saturday) while Devon, Whinfield and Cross Hills are also in the final stages of the Henry Taylor Cup.

Alan Downing and David 'Action Man' Hewitt were in fine form at the weekend. The Denholme duo secured a convincing win over John Hartley and Des Senior in the Hebden Handicap Doubles at Heptonstall.
