SILSDEN Super Sport 600 rider Matt Horne, pictured, picked up two wins and two second places on a bumper weekend at Mallory Park.
He was pushed into second place by just three tenths of a second in the main event, the John Newbold Trophy Race.
Matt was riding the Greens of Skipton/Goldspan Insurance 600cc Honda and was always at a disadvantage against the powerful 1000cc Yamahas and Suzukis.
But the close defeat was forgotten when he crushed the opposition in the two Formula 600 races, picking up two victories.
To crown a great day Matt was awarded the Bikesport News 'Man of the Meeting' award.
Afterwards Matt said: "I'm really enjoying my racing at the moment and winning is what it is all about. I would like to thank my local sponsors, Hobson's Gas, Hanson's furnishers, NAC VBC, Workouts Gym, TC Signs and Aire Valley Insurance for making it all possible."
The Colin Appleyard Racing Team also recorded a season's best result with Paul Jones storming to ninth place in the British Superbike Championship event at Knockhill.
After qualifying in 13th place he battled through the pack, picking up four places to take ninth spot.
His team mate, Shane Norval, missed valuable testing time after a crash on Friday and finished 16th after picking up six places from No22 on the grid.
In the second race of the meeting Jones finished 12th after an epic battle with multiple TT winner David Jefferies and Norval crashed heavily following an over-zealous manoeuvre by a fellow competitor.
The team returns to action next weekend at Thruxton.
