In 1878, the Prince's Theatre, Bradford, was destroyed by fire.
In 1901, Bradford and West Bowling Societies amalgamated to form the City of Bradford Co-operative Society.

Bradford's White Abbey flats, now admitted to be a council slum, are to be knocked down because the cost of putting them right would be too high. This is the council's answer to White Abbey tenants who have been campaigning for improvements, confirmed yesterday by Coun. Ken Hirst, chairman of the council's Housing Panel.

A speaker urged parents not to take their children away from school when they reached 15, at St. Bede's Grammar School, Bradford, speech day last night. The Bishop of Leeds ( Dr. J.C. Henan ) described any parent whose only reason for withdrawing his boy from school at an early age was because the child wanted to leave as "a fool". "What boy can reason that it is better for him to leave school ? "he asked. "A parent is stupid indeed who listens to a child who wants to leave."
