Silentnight Beds' original delivery van has made a welcome return to the roads this month, clocking up hundreds of miles across the country and picking up a series of awards en route.

As one of the guests of honour at the charity Bronte Village Gathering, near Haworth, the Otter appeared in pride of place alongside some of the region's finest vintage vehicles. The event itself raised an impressive £10,000 for Manorlands Hospice, at Oxenhope.

Silentnight's classic vehicle, originally used by the company in 1946 to deliver beds throughout the country, also made an appearance at the famous Tyne Tees Run earlier this month, where it successfully scooped first prize in the category for vehicles of its size and came in second overall out of 180 vehicles.

Clearly on a winning streak, the immaculately restored vehicle went on to steal the limelight at the Skipton Gala where it picked up first prize in the classic category and took home the second prize in the trade procession, proving that it still worthy of Silentnight's quality seal of approval.

Manufactured by G.U.Y Motors of Wolverhampton, the model was used by Silentnight for more than 10 years. Following a complete restoration two years ago, the Otter has bid farewell to its delivery days and is now fully occupied with promotional and fundraising activity.

Kate Hardcastle, marketing manager for Silentnight Beds commented: "As a treasured piece of our company heritage, the Otter was renowned for its reliability and was one of the most luxurious delivery vehicles of its era. With even more titles to add to its portfolio, we are proud to see that it continues to uphold its award-winning reputation."
