Haworth is set to blossom in the Yorkshire in Bloom competition.
Judges who toured the village praised the work done.
It is the first time Haworth has entered the annual contest.
In the spring judging, the village was awarded 150 marks and was joint ninth in its category.
Mike Hutchinson, for the Haworth in Bloom committee, said: "It went very well on Tuesday last week and the judges were pleased with what they saw.
"Considering we have not entered before, and it often takes places some years to establish themselves in the competition, I am delighted with the response."
Judges began their tour at Haworth Primary School's gardening club and then took in several locations around the village.
Mr Hutchinson is appealing for more local people to get involved in the Haworth in Bloom effort.
He added: "At the moment we are only a very small group, but with more people on board we could do even better things.
"We would like to hear from anybody interested in getting involved. It would be useful if recruits had some gardening experience, but it is in no way essential - enthusiasm and a desire to improve the village are the main qualities required."
The committee is also keen to hear from any businesses interested in offering sponsorship, for example for floral displays or troughs.
