An elderly couple were trapped when their car was crushed by a lamp-post after it was in collision with a stolen vehicle near a junction in Keighley.
Firefighters from Keighley battled for 20 minutes to free the pensioners, who were seriously hurt when their Peugeot 106 was in collision with a Vauxhall Cavalier in Ingrow Lane, Keighley, on Wednesday afternoon.
The Cavalier, which was travelling up Queens Road towards Staveley Road, had been stolen from North Dean Road, Braithwaite, on Monday night. There had been several sightings of it being driven at high speed in the area.
A spokesman for Keighley fire service said witnesses saw three youths jump out of the Cavalier and run away.
"We understand that the Cavalier came out of the junction with Queens Road and hit the Peugeot which was in Ingrow Lane.
"The Peugeot span round in the road and hit a concrete lamp-post which fell on top of the car, trapping the elderly couple."
The couple, from the Exley Head area, were taken to Airedale Hospital for treatment.
Keighley police would like to hear from anyone who saw the accident or who has any information.
