A new health club splashed out by holding a water polo match and raised £1,000 for the Telegraph & Argus Bradford Can... Cancer Research Appeal.
Green's Health and Fitness Club, Baildon, held the event and the company which owns the club, De Vere Hotels and Leisure Ltd, gave £100 for every goal scored during the five-a-side match.
Two teams of professional waterpolo players, as well as boxing champ Junior Witter, took part in the event in the 25-metre pool at the club at Fred Atkinson Way.
Also present at the star-studded event were Steve Huison from The Full Monty and Coronation Street actor Danny Cunningham.
Greens general manager Gavin Entwistle said they were very pleased with the total and that it is important to support local charities and be a part of the community.
The Bradford Can...Appeal is aiming to raise £1million towards cancer research at Bradford University and Bradford Royal Infirmary.
Reaching the target will trigger another £5million funding from Cancer Research UK.
