A quiet Bradford street is being terrorised by a gang who cruise up and down taking pot-shots at homes and cars with a high-powered air rifle.
Frightened residents in the road - where there have been more than 20 incidents in two months - have been left with costly repair bills for windows and windscreens.
Today they said they fear the gunmen could cause serious injury if they are not stopped.
The Wyke home-owners have faced a string of drive-by attacks - with dozens of homes and cars targeted in the early hours.
In the latest episode in Wyke Lane, two car windows were blown out and several other shots were fired from a car driving along the quiet road.
One resident, who did not wish to be named for fear she could be targeted again, said an upstairs window in her house had been shot at while her daughter slept in bed.
"It's been really frightening," she said. "Luckily the bullet didn't hit her but it could have been much worse.
"My neighbour has had a car window broken and many others have had damage done to cars."
Another resident said the thugs have been targeting the area for the last two months and have been involved in more than 20 separate incidents, usually attacking property every two to three days.
"This kind of behaviour is just mindless vandalism," she said. "It's costing my husband and I and a lot more people on this street money to repair the damage every time something is broken."
Ann Cawthra, 41, of Wyke Lane, faces an £80 bill after a window of her Corsa car was shattered. "I am sickened about it," she said.
"They are doing it for fun but it isn't much fun if you are the victim."
Another Wyke Lane resident, who had a pellet fired through the front window of her bungalow, said more police action needs to be taken to catch the culprits.
"It's time those responsible are caught. It's going to cost us about £100 to get this window fixed," she said.
Kal Hussain, who runs Clarkson's newsagents in Wyke Lane, said residents were sick of the attacks and some were even putting their homes up for sale.
"Its been going on for two and a half months now and it's becoming a joke. I can't believe that a group of people are just coming down here and shooting at targets.
"It's not as if they are stealing anything and its got to the point where people are just sick of it."
Councillor Peter Longthorn (Lab, Wyke) said urgent action is needed to catch the culprits.
"I am appalled at the mindless behaviour of these individuals," he said. "I would urge residents to co-operate fully with the authorities in an effort to apprehend those responsible as soon as possible."
A spokesman for Bradford South police said: "We are aware of mindless acts of vandalism in this area recently in which windows of vehicles and properties have been damaged.
"Police have drawn up an action plan which will see extra officers targeting affected areas in a bid to catch those responsible.
"We urge members of the public to continue contacting us with any information on (01274) 374459."
