The final of the Wynn Cup will be a Roses clash at Ingrow on Sunday, August 18 when Barrowford meet league leaders Embsay.

At Chatburn, Barrowford and Skipton CI locked horns for the second time in 24 hours. Batting first the Bull Holme side were indebted to two players for the sizeable total of 211. Ajmal Choudry and David Hartley both enjoyed "lives" as they made 92 and 80 respectively. Zufar Iqbal bowled well to finish with 5-45 off 11 overs and Nick Williamson 3-58 off 9.2.

The Skipton side got a good start from Iqbal and Ian Burke, who put on 103 for the first wicket before the latter was out for 27. Iqbal went for a splendid 74 to make the score 127-4. Although Shaun Williamson chipped in with 26, the overs ran out with the score on 190-8, Glen Hargreaves taking 4-49 off 12 overs.

At Carleton, Embsay took on a weakened Thornton, but struggled to score freely. Duncan Bullough, Duncan Ward and Mick Cox managed 25 apiece as the total reached a modest 148. Iain Clarkson bowled exceptionally well to finish with 5-40 from 12 overs.

Thornton needed a good start but some tight bowling by Cox and Stephen Speak curtailed the scoring to barely 1.5 runs per over.

Richard Phillipson then spun his way to 5-24 from 12 overs, the crucial wicket being that of opener Paul Ellis. Richard Craddock hit a few lusty blows before holing out for 17 and second team skipper John Roughton and Simon Laycock defied the attack for six overs to add 21 runs to take the score to 100-9 at the close.

This week sees the semi finals of the Cowling Cup with Barrowford meeting Thornton at Foulridge and Embsay taking on Oakworth at Sutton.
