A kind-hearted solicitor has left athletics fan Brenda Weatherill jumping for joy by helping to make her dream of watching the Commonwealth Games come true.

The Telegraph & Argus reported last week how Brenda and husband Richard had been left devastated after the July 29 track and field session they had bought £5 tickets for several weeks ago was cancelled.

The Bingley couple then spent hours trying to book an alternative session only to be told all track and field tickets were sold out.

Now Bradford solicitor Paul Brunskill has stepped in. Mr Brunskill, who works for Eatons Solicitors on Darley Street, said: "I've got four tickets for the evening session on July 26, but can't go as I'm on call.

"I saw the story in the T&A, understood their disappointment and thought offering them my tickets - in return for a donation to the Sport Relief charity - would enable them to go and solve my problem.

Brenda and her husband now plan to take son Stewart and daughter-in-law Elizabeth to Manchester for the event, having made a £25 donation to Sport Relief.

She said: "We were disappointed about not going as it's probably the only chance we'll ever get to watch the Commonwealth Games - but now we're elated."
