Bradford Metro has the highest percentage of children in care in West Yorkshire - 12.7 per cent of the estimated Bradford population under 18 - according to a Government report just published. Of the 1,711 children in care on March 31, 1976, 43 per cent were boarded out : 51 per cent in children's homes or nurseries, including voluntary homes: and six per cent in other accommodations.

There was a tinge of sadness in the voice of Mr. J.W. Taylor, one of the judges in the horse section of the Bradford annual British Railways horse and motor parade today. It was a sadness connected with the passing of a more leisurely age. Six fine dray horses stood placidly by in the Broadway Car Park as Mr. Taylor , a Leeds stable foreman recalled memories of 30 years as a horse-lover.
