A Bradford man today appeared in Court charged with the murder of 13-year-old Anum Mahmood.
Abbas Shabir Ali, 20, entered Bradford Magistrates Court handcuffed and flanked by two security guards.
He spoke only to confirm his name and address during the five minute remand hearing in court number four.
Anum's body was found on Sunday in an alleyway between Hutton Road and Hope Avenue.
Slim with short dark hair and a goatee beard, Ali was dressed in a thick navy blue and beige jumper during the hearing.
Ali, of Thornton Lane, Little Horton, remained sitting throughout the hearing and stared straight ahead at the magistrates bench as the charge was read out.
Prosecutor Sue Proctor asked that Ali be remanded in custody until next Tuesday.
The bench granted the application and told Ali he would appear at Bradford Crown Court on July 30.
No application for bail was made by Ali's solicitor, Alan Bridger.
Anum, of Sparkbrook, Birmingham, was visiting relatives in Little Horton when she went missing on Sunday.
Her body was found by two members of the public.
