Bantams manager Nicky Law today singled out winger Andy Gray for special praise after City's friendly defeat at Chesterfield.
Trialist Gray, pictured, grabbed the visitors' goal in a 2-1 reversal at Saltergate.
"Andy was our top man, our best player by a long shot," Law said.
"There was a little bit down the right wing late on when I don't think anybody knew what he was going to do next."
Former Leeds and Nottingham Forest winger Gray would love to join the Bantams.
And Law is still banking on clinching a deal providing finances allow.
He said: "The difficulty we have is that you can't talk figures until we come out of administration.
"At the moment we don't know what we will have."
