A retiring teacher is set to scale new heights with his new found freedom.
Ian Hill, 56, has worked at St Oswald's Junior School, Guiseley, for 20 years and now he has called it a day to spend more time being adventurous.
Mr Hill plans to use his retirement to concentrate on walking, running, cycling and mountaineering.
When the new school term begins in September he will be scaling the heights of a Swiss mountain, last year he climbed the Matterhorn.
"Teaching has got harder over the years. It has been lovely, the children have been a delight. I will miss them, but on the other hand I will enjoy my free time.
"I intend to learn Spanish and possible teach English as a foreign language. I love adventure and I might have more time to explore different things now."
Mr Hill celebrated his retirement with the staff on Friday afternoon and had a family meal on the evening.
Meanwhile, pupils and staff atGuiseley Infants School bid a sad farewell to two teachers.
On the last day of term, nursery teacher, Glennis Denbigh and nursery nurse, Janet Sommerhill, said goodbye to friends at the school.
Glennis had been at the Oxford Road school for 36 years and Janet for 22 years.
