COUNCILLORS were due to meet last night to press ahead with proposals to bring in new ward boundaries.
The Labour-led Leeds City Council is proposing to make major changes to the ward boundaries including the creation of a new Otley and Yeadon ward.
And last night an extraordinary meeting of the council was called in an attempt to ratify the proposals ahead of the council's Executive Board meeting in August.
The aim is to get the proposals approved so that the Executive Board can then submit the plans to the Local Government Committee.
Under the Labour group's proposals, the former Otley and Wharfedale, Aireborough, and Horsforth wards will be scrapped.
In their place, will be a new Otley and Yeadon ward, taking in the whole of Otley, and most of Yeadon and Rawdon.
A separate and new Guiseley ward will take in High Royds Hospital, Menston, all of Guiseley and also a major chunk of Yeadon.
Bramhope, Pool-in-Wharfedale and Arthington, formerly part of Otley and Wharfedale, will be moved into the newly-created Cookridge and Wharfedale ward.
Horsforth ward will also take in part of Rawdon.
