Eoin Jess was today expected to complete his switch to Nottingham Forest.
The Bantams' top scorer agreed personal terms and passed a medical at the City Ground last night.
He only has to sort out a compensation deal with City and the Professional Footballers' Association.
Jess, who was on £5,000-a-week plus £1,500 per match at Valley Parade, has had to take a pay cut. Forest's highest earners are on £4,000. Benito Carbone's pay-off saga should also reach a conclusion, with only minor details to be finalised. The Italian has already been included on Como's official website after signing a two-year deal with the Serie A club.
Winger Andy Gray is being lined up to replace Jess and impressed again in City's 1-1 draw with Huddersfield yesterday.
Gray and Paul Evans both showed up well in the private match at the Terriers' training ground. But centre-forward Robert Taylor again struggled and has only tomorrow's trip to Hartlepool to convince boss Nicky Law he is worth keeping on.
City fell behind after just 20 seconds but fought back to level through Danny Cadamarteri.
