This was the scene as hundreds of mourners including family, friends and colleagues gathered for the funeral on Friday of popular Oxenhope farmer and college lecturer David Mytum.

The long procession, led by Mr Mytum's wife Susan and other family members, walked behind as the coffin was taken on the short trip from the Waggon and Horses to the nearby Oxenhope Cemetery on a hay cart pulled by a tractor.

A short graveside service was held at the cemetery.

Mr Mytum, 55, a father of two daughters, died on July 9 after being attacked by a bull in a field at his farm, Hardnaze Farm, Oxenhope. He had survived a similar attack just days earlier.

His body was found by a friend who had called to see him at the farm in Hebden Bridge Road.

Mr Mytum, an experienced farmer, had lived at Hardnaze Farm for many years, and kept a number of rare breed cattle and some sheep.

He was a member of the National Farmers Union and traded at local auction markets, including Skipton and Otley.

At an inquest he was described as a 'dedicated' farmer. A verdict of accidental death was recorded by Coroner Roger Whittaker.

Mr Mytum had also worked in the technology faculty at Keighley College since September 1997, mainly with pupils referred from schools in Keighley and Bradford.

Before that he worked at a special school in Bradford, and for Bradford Education in the pupil services department, where he looked after excluded pupils.

His wife Susan is a teacher in Keighley.
