A plumber who indecently assaulted a 12-year-old girl while working in her bedroom has been given an 84-day jail sentence.
But Mohammed Farooq has been released from custody immediately, having been on remand since being charged with rape in April.
The prosecution decided not to pursue the rape allegation when 36-year-old Farooq appeared for a plea and directions hearing at Bradford Crown Court last Friday.
And Judge Roger Scott indicated that the defendant would receive maximum credit for his guilty plea to the new charge of indecent assault.
Prosecutor Richard Newbury told the court how the girl's mother had contacted her landlady about a faulty water heater and she had arranged for Farooq to visit their rented property in Keighley.
The indecent assault on the girl was said to have taken place while Farooq was working on the heater in her bedroom.
It was only after Farooq had left that the girl revealed to her mother that some sexual activity had taken place.
Farooq, of Spencer Street, Keighley, will have to register with police as a sex offender for the next seven years.
Judge Scott told him: "You're a man of previous good character with no previous convictions.
"You have pleaded guilty at the first opportunity and you will receive the maximum credit for that plea.
"You have been in custody for three months, which is the equivalent of at least a six-month sentence if not longer. In my view, that will suffice by way of a custodial sentence.
"For your benefit and the benefit of anybody else listening, this case merits a custodial sentence because it was a breach of trust as you were in this girl's room in your capacity as a plumber.
"You behaved, on your own admission, very badly towards this 12-year-old girl."
Judge Scott noted that in the girl's video interview with police she did not want to complain, despite being pressed perfectly properly by officers.
