Keighley police are warning young people to avoid using their mobiles when alone in a public place. The message comes following a street robbery in Keighley this week where a teenager was attacked and had his phone snatched.
A 14-year-old youth was talking on his mobile phone in Belgrave Road, Highfield, at around 4.25pm on Wednesday.
He was approached by another youth who struck him with a stick, causing him to drop the phone. His attacker picked up the phone and ran away from the scene. The 14-year-old sustained minor injuries.
The suspect is described as a mixed race or Asian male, about 6ft tall, of slim build and with a goatee beard.
l A Keighley woman was attacked and had her purse snatched as she walked through a Keighley park this week.
The 47-year-old woman was walking through Victoria Park at 11.10am on Wednesday when she was approached by an Asian youth on a bicycle, who asked if she had change for 50p.
When the woman got her purse out the offender grabbed it and wrestled with the woman, who then fell to the floor, sustaining minor injuries.
The suspect then managed to make off with purse. He is described as an Asian male in his teens, 5ft 6in tall, of medium build and wearing a dark blue and black jacket.
