A series of events organised by a former cancer patient have raised nearly £2,000 for the Telegraph & Argus Bradford Can... Cancer Research Appeal.
Christine Masson organised a steam gala day hosted by Brighouse and Halifax Model Engineering Society and an open garden event at Hipperholme.
The two events raised £1,937 which Mrs Masson handed over to the £1m appeal.
She said: "I want to thank everybody who supported us, they have been very generous and co-operative."
At the steam gala at Ravensprings Park, Brighouse, youngsters could enjoy rides on model steam trains, Northern Counties Landrover Club brought their vehicles for visitors to explore and there were also stalls and music.
Mrs Masson, 56, was inspired to fundraise for the Bradford Can... appeal after she had breast cancer last year and underwent chemotherapy, taking part in a clinical trial of a new drug to tackle the disease. Tests show the treatment seems to have worked.
The Bradford Can...Appeal will use the £1m to fund research into the disease at Bradford University's Cancer Research Unit and for clinical trials at Bradford Royal Infirmary. Once the £1m target is hit, it will unlock another £5m from Cancer Research UK.
