Television licence fees will go up from midnight tonight, Home Secretary Mr. Merlyn Rees announced. For black and white televisions the fee will go up from £8 to £9, and for colour from £12 to £18. The Government intends that these fees should last for at least a year. The last increases were in April 1975.

Bradford City season tickets are not moving as speedily as last season, but as the season approaches a rush is expected (writes "Bantam"). Tickets are now on sale at the club offices at Valley Parade, prices being from £2 to £6. City have booked the Newark Imperials Band for four home matches, but the resident band will again be the Hammond's Sauce Works Band.
