Andy Myers today revealed that the Bradford City shenanigans have given him his "toughest week in football".
The City centre-back, whose deep cross set up Andy Tod's fourth goal of the night, was delighted to be back on the pitch after an awful week of anxiety.
"It is wonderful to be playing again," said Myers, last season's player of the year.
"It has been an awful week, a real emotional rollercoaster. There were times when we really thought it was all over and the club would disappear.
"There have been a lot of up and downs recently, I think I could see it has been my toughest week as a professional footballer."
He said that he was pleased for the fans that they had a team to support once more and that the club has survived.
"All we ever wanted to do was play football and now we can do that," he added.
"We are just going to try and put this behind us and get back to work and preparing for the game against Wolves next week.
"It was great to get a big win tonight, it has been a real boost for confidence."
Professional Footballers Association representative and club captain David Wetherall revealed he discovered the news of the club's escape on Teletext.
"I was just at home waiting to hear and then it came through," said the skipper, who was clearly delighted to be talking football once more.
"I then rung a few of the lads but a lot of them already knew.
"Of course it is wonderful news and we can now get back to our jobs as footballers.
"It has been really tough over the last few weeks for everyone involved with the club."
He said that although the players had still yet to be paid, there were now guarantees in place to ensure they would.
"The nightmare is over," he added with a smile that has been missing since May 23 when the club went into administration.
