Robbie Paul today lifted the lid on the half-time chat that roused the Bulls in the Battle of Yorkshire.

He said there was a steely resolve in the Valley Parade dressing-room as the Bulls were determined to see off their fierce rivals.

The world club champions had led Leeds Rhinos 10-0 at Headingley in May only to lose 28-20, and skipper Paul and his team-mates were adamant it was not going to happen again as the Rhinos had pulled back from 22-6 to 22-14 by half-time - despite having had Barrie McDermott sent off.

"We had been in that position before at their place and they got us into trouble, and we were determined at half-time that we were going to go on with the job, and luckily we did."

The 26-year-old Kiwi added: "To put that many points (46-18) past a team of their class, especially after what had happened in our previous two meetings this season, was really satisfying."

Meanwhile, Leeds coach Daryl Powell said he was proud of his team's efforts after McDermott was sent off, but was disappointed they had gifted Bradford tries in the first half.

"You cannot afford to give them anything," said Powell. "They are a quality side and will punish you if you make errors, we were still in the game at half-time despite them having had more ball than us.

"We knew that if we were smart we could still punish them in the second half, but unfortunately we turned the ball over three times on the first tackle, and you don't want to be doing that when you have 13, let alone 12."
