Southfield Square, Manningham, residents were in Bradford Council Chamber yesterday to hear that their homes were to be demolished. They had made their opposition clear in a protest outside the City Hall before the Tory-controlled Metropolitan Council took the decision to go ahead with clearing the square.

So reads the inscription on a plaque which has just been fitted to the wall near the main doorway of the Keighley branch of the Yorkshire Penny Bank in North Street. The plaque has been provided by the Bronte Society.
