Bobby Vanzie is not interested in a re-match with Steve Murray.

Bradford's British lightweight champion is tuning up for a WBO title eliminator in Manchester on September 28.

And he has dismissed suggestions of a second bite at Londoner Murray who he beat in seven explosive rounds to win the domestic crown last year.

Vanzie said: "There is no need for me to go back over old ground. Murray brings nothing to the table apart from a silly intercontinental bauble which is worthless.

"The board haven't put anyone forward and all the contenders seem happy to keep a low profile until I decide to move on.

"I have no plans to relinquish the British belt until I have had a crack at the world title which remains my target. If that were to happen then I would think again but certainly not before.

"The world title is what I am after and you can definitely see that happening with Frank Warren. If I had stayed with Tommy Gilmour I would never have gone beyond the domestic level and fighting the likes of Murray.

"It's a fight that has been mentioned, like Ricky Hatton, but not one I want to take on. Inevitably I'm going to move up to a higher weight division eventually which might change things but I'm not interested in Murray.

"All I am concentrating on now is being ready for my world title eliminator."
