One side of Pudsey could be in rapture tomorrow night, as the championship could be decided at the Britannia Ground.

The two runaway leaders go head to head in the battle of Pudsey in a game that should pull in one of the biggest crowds of the season.

And Congs skipper Matthew Doidge, who side slipped from 12 points ahead to just one, is delighted to welcome back Gareth Clough for the encounter.

The Notts man will be a welcome addition for the Congs as they look to take maximum points from this vital encounter.

But Doidge, who also skippers the Bradford League representative side, is playing down the importance of the Battle of Pudsey.

"I think it would be wrong to say this is going to be the championship decider," said Doidge, who will also go head to head with little brother Andrew in tomorrow's match-up.

"There are still five games left and anything is possible. If one side can manage a winning draw that will still leave things open, and even if they beat us with a six, we are still only a win behind.

"On paper we have the easier run in, but you can never predict these things. There are two very good, evenly-matched sides and it should be a great game."

As well as this vital league game, the two sides also meet on August 25 in the Priestley Cup final.

And St Lawrence skipper Iain Priestley is predicting a run-fest.

"It is a quick-scoring ground and with both sides going all out for the win, I think there could be quite a few runs," said a confident-sounding Priestley.

"It should provide a lot of entertainment and we expect there to be quite a few down there.

"We are missing Adrian Rooke and we know it will be a really tough game. There is still a lot of cricket to be played after tomorrow, but victory will certainly give one team an edge."

"I think it is good for the league to have these sort of matches although I wouldn't say it was going to be a championship-decider."
