A 23-year-old Baildon man involved in a restaurant fight was given a community punishment order for 200 hours.
Bradford Crown Court heard how Gary Lillington punched James Walton in the face during an incident at Kentucky Fried Chicken in Harrogate Road, Greengates, last November. Both men - who were said to have drunk a lot of alcohol - then grappled with each other. As the fight continued, Lillington picked up a metal stool and threw it at Mr Walton.
Prosecutor Robin Frieze told the court the men were separated before a second bout of fighting when Mr Walton was bitten on his back.
After the incident, Mr Walton - who suffered two black eyes and bruising to his back and arms - had a hepatitis injection because of the bite marks.
Lillington, of Glen Road, Baildon, pleaded guilty to assault occasioning actual bodily harm. As well as the sentence, he was ordered to pay £700 compensation.
Mitigating, Sukhbir Bassra said Lillington could not explain his actions, except that he had been drinking.
