A gifted student with cerebral palsy has praised the excellent support he received from Bradford Business School, which gave him a "level playing field" despite his disability.

Steven Thoseby's condition never stood in the way of his attainment or participation in the course, say his impressed tutors. He is one of a group of successful graduates of the MA in Marketing Practice, which enjoyed record success this year.

As well as Steven's achievement, the Business School - part of Bradford College - is extremely proud of Andrew Crump who is the first student to achieve a Distinction since the MA programme's inception.

The pair of students teamed up during the course, boosting each other's achievements.

Course tutor Howard Walker said the friendship forged by the two students meant they supported each other throughout the course and this contributed to their success.

Steven, 26, discovered an interest in marketing when doing an Organisation Studies degree.

"Doing the masters degree in Marketing Practice was a fantastic experience," he said.

"Normally, a disabled person faces a great deal of discrimination within everyday life. It was refreshing to be presented with the opportunity to study with an 'even playing field'. He added: "I am grateful to the College for giving me the opportunity to realise my potential."

Meanwhile his fellow student, Andrew Crump, is celebrating getting top marks.

The accountancy graduate and former trainee accountant spent two years in the workplace before realising his interest lay in marketing. He now plans to pursue a career in a marketing consultancy.

"The encouragement and support shown by the various lecturers who teach on the MA programme has made my time at Bradford Business School an extremely enjoyable experience," he said.
