Long Lee under 15's, finalists of the Rayleigh Hargreaves Cup for a second successive year, put last season's defeat by Steeton behind them with a victory over Airedale.
Captain Steve Doane marshalled his bowlers well after winning the toss and asking the home side to bat. A Mahmood conceded only eight runs from his seven overs. Slower bowlers did the damage with S Razak taking 3-9 and L Metcalfe matching him. S Doane returned 3-20 from his overs finishing off the tail with three wickets for one run in his second spell.
Airedale were dismissed for 91 and their top scorers were R Drummond with 19 and E Greenham with 16.
The Long Lee reply got off to a flying start with A Mahmood and S Doane putting on 45 for the first wicket in only five overs.
Steve Doane, after building a patient innings of 27, finally holed out to Drummond off the bowling of E Greenham in the deep with Long Lee needing only six runs for victory. The winning runs were struck by T Hartley off a no ball to give Long Lee victory by four wickets with 24 overs to spare.
The Airedale bowlers finished with figures for J Ingle 2-28, Drummond 1-35, E Greensham 1-13 and Quinlan 2-2. Richard Smith, on behalf of the Upper Airedale Junior League, presented the winners and runners-up trophies, and Steve Doane was awarded the man of the match award.
