DOUGIE LAMPKIN fought off a challenge from Graham Jarvis to win the British Championship trial on Addingham Moorside last Sunday.

As rain lashed across the boulder-strewn hillside above Silsden, Lampkin found the going tough. He fell at the 11th seciton on lap two, but Jarvis also fell on the following section.

On his final lap Lampkin stormed through, dropping just four marks for the best lap of the trial and keep Jarvis in second place.

Sam Connor was third and Haworth's Dan Clark took sixth place after a gritty ride.

The next round in the British Championship is at Widdecombe in the West Country on September 1, before it returns north to Back Cymn, near Rochdale, on October 7 and Lampkin has a six-point lead over Jarvis.

James Lampkin, Dougie's cousin and World Championship mechanic, won the Expert class from yet another cousin, Dan Hemmingway.
