COUGAR coach Gary Moorby goes into Sunday's clash with Swinton with one of his biggest selection headaches of the season.

After struggling to put out a team against Huddersfield Giants last weekend three players return from injury and have left him struggling to fit them into the team.

Craig Horne, Chris Hannah and Simeon Hoyle are available after injury and sickness, but Moorby was delighted with the way his threadbare team performed against the Giants and now has to decide who will be sidelined this week.

Max Tomlinson came back into the starting line-up last week and was a star of the game.

"It is very nice to have a selection headache and not something we have had to worry too much about this season," he said.

"I was very pleased with the effort our players put in, but I must admit it feels odd to be pleased even when we have lost. Our preparations were severely hampered with Oliver Wilkes unable to train because of a sickness bug, Lee Kelly was 50-50 right up to Sunday with ankle ligament trouble. Chris Hannah went down with tonsillitis on Saturday and Simeon Hoyle also fell victim to a sickness bug.

"Nonetheless the guys who played did a great job. We had a simple game plan that proved very effective simply because we stuck to it. Our completion rate was around 80 per cent which shows we controlled the ball very well.

"The Giants put over 60 points past us in January and I feel the score was a mark of our improvement since then. To be honest I thought the final score flattered them a little."

Now the team has to put right the 33-6 defeat by Swinton Lions in March.

"The players know they let themselves, and more importantly the supporters, down and they are desperate to make amends. The players are a big outfit with a new coach in Phil Veivers and they will be looking to do the double over us.

"I've reminded the players they are only as good as their last game. If we can improve on that we can be confident of success," Moorby added.
