Bradford City were officially given the green light to kick-off the new season in Division One - but the news did not come without some last minute nerves last night.
The Football League officially notified City at about 8.30pm after an anxious wait for new owners Julian Rhodes and Gordon Gibb.
Speaking exclusively to the Telegraph & Argus just moments after confirmation of City's survival was received, Mr Rhodes said he was "exhausted but absolutely elated".
"We had a few last minute hitches but we have now received the all-clear from the League," he said. "It was panic stations at times, and we kept needing to provide more information, but now I am ecstatic."
The new City chief was planning to celebrate with a few drinks before meeting Mr Gibb today for further discussions. Further paperwork confirming the financial deal with the Professional Footballers' Association will be finalised next week.
And Mr Rhodes called for the people of Bradford to turn out in force for the game against Wolves tomorrow to celebrate the club's survival.
"I just can't wait for the game," he said. "Let's make it an occasion to remember."
