Families in a Bradford improvement area have won the right to have a road sealed off to traffic. Bradford Council had suggested leaving open the junction between Oak Lane and Sunderland Road as part of the 660-home Victor Road improvement area. But at a public meeting, families in the improvement area said they wanted the road - the only direct route from Oak Lane into the area - closed off.

The parts of Ashfield Avenue and Aireville Avenue which lie in Bradford are, subject to residents' consent and City Council approval, to be renamed Ashfield Avenue West, and Aireville Avenue West. The parts in Shipley will be unchanged. This was decided at a meeting of the Bradford Town Planning and Buildings sub-committee today. Bradford Post Office had asked that the roads be renamed to avoid confusion.
