Bradford City's new chairman Gordon Gibb has described the recent negotiations at the club as "extremely complex".
Negotiations over the sale of the club in a multi-million pound deal were finalised at the weekend with help from York-based commercial law firm Denison Till.
The legal team representing Gordon Gibb completed the £4.6 million deal on Friday evening after three-way negotiations with former owner Geoffrey Richmond, the new chief executive Julian Rhodes and his father David.
Under the terms of the agreement, ownership of Bradford City Holdings and Bradford City AFC (1983) Ltd transfer to Flamingoland Ltd owner Gordon Gibb and chief executive Julian Rhodes, who was a director under Geoffrey Richmond. The new owners each now hold 49.2 per cent of shares with the remainder being divided between various small shareholders. The Football League had ruled last Tuesday that it would not allow Bradford City to play this season unless the transfer was completed by late Friday afternoon.
Negotiations were said to be tense as time ran out.
The League's conditions included that Gordon Gibb should enter a binding agreement over his involvement with the club and that agreement should be reached with the Professional Footballers Association (PFA) about arrears in wages. Gordon Gibb said: "If the action on the football field is anything like as exciting as in these negotiations, then we are all in for a nail-biting season.
"It was extremely complex with three sets of negotiations having to be conducted in tandem against an horrific deadline in which we had to ensure that Bradford City Football Club met all its obligations to the Football League and the PFA.
"I selected Denison Till because I was aware of their expertise in providing legal expertise to football clubs."
Mr Gibb had been attracted to the club because it has synergy with his interests in the leisure industry.
Earlier this year, York-based Denison Till, which also has a presence in Leeds, acted for York City Football Club owners, Bootham Crescent Holdings in the transfer of the club to York City Racing team driver, owner and entrepreneur, John Batchelor.
