The daughter of a former Bradford bishop, who is preparing for her new life as the Archbishop of Canterbury's wife, has told how the city will always hold a special place in her heart.
Jane Paul married Cambridge don Reverend Dr Rowan Williams at St Barnabas Church, Heaton. She was given in marriage by her father, Bishop Geoffrey Paul, in July 1981. He walked her to the church from Bishopscroft.
Mr and Mrs Williams spent their honeymoon in nearby Haworth.
While her father was Bishop of Bradford, Jane and her sisters spent university holidays in Bradford.
She told the Telegraph & Argus: "We were very happy there, especially with all the different places to eat.
"Ten minutes drive in the car and you were in the moors. We all loved walking and also visiting Haworth because we were great Bronte readers."
Mrs Williams, 45, met her husband while studying theology at Cambridge University.
She said of their marriage: "It was lovely day. We had the reception in the garden of Bishopscroft, with beautiful views of the moors. It was the best place for a wedding and I have very happy memories of it."
Bishop Geoffrey died two years later in July, 1983.
"He had his funeral here and his ashes are buried in the cathedral, so it is a special place for our family."
Her husband is currently Archbishop of Wales and Bishop of Monmouth, where they live with their children Rhiannon, 14, and Pip, four.
Mrs Williams lectures in theology at Trinity College in Bristol, but will give up her job.
Dr Carey, the current Archbishop of Canterbury, will stand down at the end of October.
