Burley did themselves a massive favour by toppling North Leeds for the second time this season to open a ten-point gap on second-from-bottom Rawdon.

North Leeds' title challenge is now virtually over as they trail runaway leaders Adel by 20 points with five games left.

North Leeds set Burley a target of 217 for victory, Tim Cooper slamming 13 fours and two sixes in his innings of 109. Burley opener David Pike responded with 94, including 15 fours and a six before being caught by Tim Hollis at wide mid-on. Nick Brook and Chris Wheeler also made important contributions as Burley made it two wins and a draw from their last three games.

Beckwithshaw were unable to halt Adel's surge towards the title as the table-toppers won by seven wickets in a game reduced to 20 overs per side. Beckwithshaw were restricted to 65 for eight, Adel passing that total in 14 overs.

Steeton were four-wicket winners at Rawdon despite losing their first four wickets for 20 runs on the way to overhauling Rawdon's 154 for seven in a match reduced to 40 overs per side.

Bottom-of-the-table Menston took five points off Collingham. Ned Taylor celebrated his return to the side with an undefeated 70 in Menston's 188 for five. Michael Brendankamp (5-32) and Jason Scott (3-43) then restricted Collingham's reply to 139 for eight despite a fine knock of 52 by Tom Kilby.

Hall Park had a mixed weekend. They extended their lead in Division B to 12 points with a six-wicket home win over Calverley on Saturday, but lost their Waddilove Cup final to holders Guiseley at Rawdon on Sunday by 38 runs.

Calverley openers Steve Alred (83) and Anthony Jones (45) shared a stand of 124 as the visitors went on to post a total of 196 for five. Park's opening pair Simon Wilson (52) and rd Simpson (47) also managed a century partnership and the leaders won with 14 balls to spare.

However, there was no stopping holders Guiseley in the Waddilove final 24 hours later, man of the match Mark Ross hitting 132 - the highest innings in a Waddilove Cup final and only the third century.

After making 226 for five, Guiseley quickly removed opener Richard Simpson for a duck, but Michael Elliott and Robert Murphy added 58 before Murphy was given out leg-before and Elliott was run out in the same over.

Hall Park never recovered from that double blow and were bowled out for 188, Peter Graham taking three for 17 and Ross adding two wickets to his match-winning innings.

Back in Division B, Otley managed their first win in five games to move into second place. Home side Knaresborough made 93 for five, Ben Quick hitting 44, and after losing their first three wickets for 45, Otley won by seven wickets.

Tong Park had a winning draw against Ilkley despite a defiant 47 not out by David Fisher. In the only game in Division C saw Horsforth gained a winning draw at Ben Rhydding.
