Shipley Lions Club held their custom-built vehicle show in Jenny Lane recreation ground, Baildon, and drew a crowd estimated at 5,000. Out of about 100 custom built cars, vans and bikes " The Little Princess" built by Mr Danny Miller of Edinburgh took the award for the best car, best chrome, best engine, and was the visitors' choice. It was a six wheeler, developed from a 1971 mini van, with a Riley Elf front, special doors, roof and windows, powered by an automatic 1300cc engine.

Two unexploded bombs found embedded in old shale heaps leading to Dobrudden Farm, near Baildon Moor Reservoir, yesterday by Baildon police were detonated today by Warrant Officer Gibson, ammunition examiner, of Catterick Camp. He identified the bombs as mortar bombs used by the Home Guard.
