Pint size performer James Hudson-Wright never gets All Shook Up when he impersonates his favourite singer Elvis Presley.

The ice-cool six-year-old, pictured, will be among performers stepping into the King's Blue Suede Shoes at charity night Rockin' in the Chapel on Friday.

He will be entertaining the crowd on the 25th anniversary of the star's death, along with about eight other impersonators aged from six to 60 at the event at St Margaret's Church, Ilkley.

Proceeds from the night will be split, with 60 per cent going to the Telegraph & Argus Bradford Can...Cancer Research Appeal and 40 per cent to the church's New Parish Hall Project.

James, who lives at Lowerholme, Baildon, has been a big Elvis fan ever since he was introduced to the King's music by his grandma Margaret Wright.

His mum Joanne Wright said he started performing last year at an Elvis weekend at the White Rose Shopping Centre, Leeds. Now the pint-sized singer is looking forward to strutting his stuff on Friday.

His mum said his current favourite Elvis number was Moody Blue, along with All Shook Up, Return To Sender and of course Teddy Bear.

"I think it's fabulous, he's a born entertainer," she said.

"He's got so much confidence and he's not fazed by the audience at all."

James, who goes to Hoyle Court Primary, Baildon, even recreates Elvis's pelvis-swivelling dance moves and has the outfit to match.

He will join 11-year-old Jessica Meehan who was among the first competitors to put their names down.

Others ready to set the stage alight are a former curate of St Margaret's Church, Rev Alan Brown, and Peter Henderson who has been appearing as Elvis for three years.

The event, which starts at 7.30pm, will be compered by Bradford businessman John Pennington. The contestants will be backed by a live band, and there are great prizes.

First prize is two tickets to see The Elvis Collection at Leeds Grand Theatre on September 1. The tribute act will play more than 30 of Elvis's best-loved tunes and has toured the world with the show. The winner will meet its stars, including Elvis - frontman Billy J McGregor, on a special backstage visit,

Second prize is two Elvis Collection CDs, a poster and glossy brochure. Entry to the event costs £4 but there is no charge for competitors.

Rockin' In The Chapel is the brainchild of St Margaret's member Hugh Little and Father Richard Hoyal who are both big Elvis fans.
